Open3D is a modern, Python-first library for 3D data processing developed at Intel Labs (Intelligent Systems Lab). It covers point-cloud and triangle-mesh operations, RGB-D odometry, TSDF volume integration for dense reconstruction, global registration (FPFH + RANSAC) and multi-scale ICP, scene visualization, and a tensor API with CUDA support that brings GPU acceleration to core 3D ops. Open3D-ML layers 3D deep-learning pipelines (semantic segmentation, detection) on PyTorch/TensorFlow. Its clean Python API made it the default prototyping-to-production tool for depth-camera perception in robotics.
