The MHC2 angular-style air gripper pivots its two fingers open/closed (30° to -10°, both sides) via a double-piston rack-and-pinion mechanism, rather than translating them linearly like a parallel gripper -- useful for odd-shaped workpieces or tight spaces where a linear-stroke gripper's swept envelope won't fit. It spans 5 bore sizes (6, 10, 16, 20, 25mm), each offered double-acting or single-acting (spring-return, normally open), with a built-in variable throttle for finger-speed adjustment and an optional mountable solid-state auto switch (2-wire/3-wire) for position sensing. SMC's catalog also lists a related 'Compact Type' page (MHCA2-6 short-body and MHCM2-7 further-miniaturized single-acting-only) under the same MHC family, but those use different model-number prefixes and are not covered by this listing.

Body-mount via 4 threaded bolt holes sized to bore (M3 depth 5-6mm on bore 10, up to M6 depth 10-12mm on bore 25; M2/M3 on bore 6) plus a locating dowel bore (ø11H9 on bore 10 up to ø26H9 on bore 25) for repeatable positioning. Fingers are captive/integrated (not a separate customer-attached blade like SMC's parallel-type MHZ2/MHF2); end-effector tooling attaches to the finger face via threaded holes sized per bore (M2.5 on bore 10 up to M5-class on bore 25).
