- A per-pixel binary mask of one object (or one mask per object) in an image. A data contract, not a transport: the same mask may arrive over a ROS 2 topic (sensor_msgs/Image (mono8)), a Python API call or a file. How it travels is a separate interface port (ros2-topic, python-api…); this type says what it is.
